When selecting a new wood stove, consideration must be given to proper venting, clearance requirements to combustible surfaces and required hearth size. Some models may be installed as close as 6” to a wall when installed to manufacturer’s specifications while others may require clearances of over 3 feet unless the wall is first properly protected.
Woodburning stoves are considered space heaters so one must also consider the square footage of area to be heated. A small stove can take the chill out of a small den to create a comfortable niche while some larger models can heat an entire home.
